Peace, Love & Casting Practice

After my Daddy woke up today (he was up all last night running calls on the ambulance) we decided to run some errands and ended up going fishing. This time Mommy was prepared and brought the camera and to my surprise Grandma & Grandaddy came out to say hello!

The island where we went fishing had a big fire pit on one end. I was busy investigating the pit when Mommy pulled out the camera & started shooting.

After exploring a little I decided that Daddy might need some pointers.

Here I am helping Daddy reel in his line.

The sun was really bright reflecting off the water so Daddy let me borrow his hat.

Smiling for the camera so maybe Mommy will let us get back to the business of fishing.

Sadly Mommy, Daddy and I returned home not having caught a thing. When I brought this up as we packed up, Daddy said that it was ok because we had just come for some casting practice. I'm a little disappointed, I really wanted to pet a fishy! Daddy promised that we would come back when the weather & water was a little warmer. Guess until we catch something its simply casting practice... I hope we go fishing soon!

Peace, love & casting practice,
Bailey

Peace, Love & A Baby Paramedic

This evening before bedtime I came across Daddy's computer bag which has all of the stuff he takes with him when he goes to work at the fire station. In the side pocket I found the stethoscope that Mommy gave him when he started his clinicals for his paramedic. Being the extremely curious young lady that I am, I asked Daddy to explain what it was and how it worked. Here are some pics that Mommy took during my improptu lesson on stethoscope use!

Here is Daddy showing me how to wear the stethoscope and what you do with them.

My turn to try on the stethoscope and take a try at listening to Daddy's heart.

After hearing Daddy's heart, I wanted to hear my own!
Lub-dub, lub-dub, lub-dub, lub-dub - what a wonderful sound!

Posing for a quick pick with Daddy's stethoscope. Who knows maybe I will be a doctor like Cousin Lee Ann one day and have my very own stethoscope.

Or maybe I will be a veternarian instead.

I hope that you enjoy the pictures of my learning experience. I had a great time listening to Mommy, Daddy & Abby's heart. I tried to get Izzy to listen to my heart but she wasn't very interested in wearing the stethoscope. Guess my Daddy's medical interests may have been genetically passed to me... kinda like my parents love of the outdoors!

Peace, Love & "On Belay"

Wanted to drop a quick note and let y'all know about my super exciting day! Today was beautiful so Daddy & I spent sometime putting the day bed up in the attic. When Mommy & Daddy turned around and found me on the third step of the ladder up to the attic they decided it was time for me to learn proper harnessing and belay techniques.

Here is the beginning of the process. Daddy is making me my own seat harness out of a piece of tubular webbing.

After getting hooked into my belay line, I began my ascent.

Me & my oh-so-trustworthy belay team... Mommy!

Beginning my descent

Getting some help unhooking the carabiner from my harness after completing my descent!

Mad props to Daddy for making me an uber-safe climbing harness and for protecting me from any unnecessary meetings with the garage floor. I really thought I was safe enough just having Mommy or Daddy spot me while I climbed but I think my parents were hoping that if they made a big deal about the harness and rope maybe I would think twice about climbing things without them around. Guess we will have to wait and see how well I remember this lesson!

Peace, love & "on belay",
Bailey

Peace, Love & Fishing

So today it's official - I went fishing with my Daddy for the first time! We went to the lake over by Grandma & Grandaddy's house. Daddy brought out all of his fishing gear and two fishing poles and Mommy came to help keep an eye on me! I had fun playing with and exploring all of the slimy lures that Daddy had. Then I ran all over the little island we were on. Of course when I found the little pile of rocks, all bets were off - I proceeded to pick up one or two rocks and take them over to the bridge and throw them into the water. It was great fun for me but I think I nearly gave Mommy and Daddy a heartattack once or twice. Sadly Mommy did not remember to bring the camera to capture the moment so my blog entry will have to serve to remind me of my first fishing trip with Daddy. It was kinda fun... especially watching Daddy try to show Mommy how to cast without knotting up the string! I can't wait until the next time Daddy & I go fishing. Hopefully we will catch something & Mommy will remember the camera.

Aside from our fishing trip Mommy & Daddy also took me to the doctors. I've had a lot of drainage lately & the decongestant wasn't really helping. Add to that the week of diarrhea and a fever and you end up with a very unhappy Bailey! Oh & I forgot to mention that I'm cutting two molars. Hopefully the amoxicillin & prednisone will assist the humidifier & motrin in improving my attitude.

Here are my most recent stats
35.5" (yes, I've grown 1" since I saw the doctor on the 8th)
29 lbs (yes, I lost weight due to last week's diarrhea)
Head Circumference: 19" (this is smaller than the last measurement but was triple checked)

Although I don't have any pictures from my fishing expedition today I figured I would leave you with this picture from December 12th. Mommy takes pictures of all the blankets she makes and she made this one for a friend of Uncle Brett's. When she first put it down to take the picture I just wanted to snuggle! The blankets are super soft and ultra-cozy.

Peace, Love & Tigger

Christmas was a very busy time for us but that doesn't mean that I don't want to share pics of some of my favorite presents. Today's entry is dedicated to my stuffed tigger that I got from my Aunt Liz! She sent it all the way from snowy Maine just for me. I sleep with a smaller tigger but I was so excited to get a tigger that I could carry around the house and play with. I even taught him to jump on the trampoline! Mommy and Daddy said that its a good thing that I have tigger because he's the only one who has enough energy to keep up with me all day long!! Good thing that tigger's like bouncing - cause I sure do!

As soon as I saw tigger under the tree he was under my arm! I didn't even touch any of my other presents and wouldn't until Mommy and Daddy took tigger away (just for a minute to refocus my attention).

This is me giving tigger a huge welcome to the family hug! Thanks Aunt Liz - you, Dan & Kota y'all are the greatest!

Peace, love & tigger,
Bailey

Peace, Love & Attitude

I'm sharing these photos from the 3rd of January because my Mommy, Grandma & Granddaddy Doc think that they are adorable... not to mention that they show a side of me that apparently I don't post many pictures of!

While I was visiting Grandma & Granddaddy Doc my clothes got dirty - which is par for the course when I'm visiting them except this time Mommy had forgotten to leave a clean change of clothes - so I borrowed one of Grandma's shirts and rigged up the sleeves with some trusty twisty ties!

I was feeling photogenic in my getup and posed for a ton of pictures. For some reason my parents and grandparents think that this pic is uber cute and shows my spunky personality... whatever!

We finished off our photo shoot with a pic of me & Granddaddy - aren't we adorable! I see a family resemblence... do you?

Peace, love & attitude,
Bailey

Peace, Love & 18 Month Stats

Just a quick note tonight, which is way overdue! On the 18th of December I went to the doctors for my well-child visit and got my latest set of stats. According to the doctor I will be no shorter than 5'9" when fully grown (apparently a child is half their by age two)! Anyways I'm above 95th percentile for height and weight and if you look at my height and weight for a two year old I'm still above the 75th percentile! Who would have thought with a Mommy who's 6' and a Daddy who's 6'1" that I'd be tall :)

On December 18th I was:
34.5" tall
28 lbs 6 oz
19" head circumfrence

I'm headed to the doctor this next week because of a nagging stomach bug which has my Mommy concerned so I'll let you know what my latest stats are.

Peace, love & 18 month stats,
Bailey

Peace, Love & Crossword Puzzles

The biggest thing that I started expressing an interest in recently is the big girl potty. Mommy and Daddy weren't ready to start potty training so I started myself. Although I haven't graduated to big girl panties I am learning to tell my parents and grandparents before I go potty in my diaper. It's a process that Mommy and Daddy say I will figure out in time but I sure like acting like being a big girl!

Although Mommy has refrained from taking what my Daddy calls "blackmail" pictures - she couldn't resist this opportunity when it presented itself on January 4th. In the evening I patted my diaper (the sign for diaper) and preceeded to take Daddy to my potty room (yes its under construction). Once I had ditched the diaper and gotten comfortable on the potty I picked up a magazine.

hmmmm very interesting... good thing there are lots of pictures.

But the magazine got old quickly and I proceeded to something more intellectually challenging - a crossword puzzle (and yes I picked up the pencil & crossword correctly... no prompting from Mommy and Daddy).

Still working away at my puzzle but I took a momment to pose for a picture. Priceless!

Well that is about all the embarrassing pictures that I can bear to post in one evening. No need to rush this catching up thing and post all my embarrassing pictures at one time :)

Peace, love & crossword puzzles,
Bailey

Peace, Love & A Wonderful Life

With two months since Mommy's surgery I figured it was time to start harassing her to get back to typing my blogs! I know that I have a lot of ground to make up but hopefully I can hit some highlights for y'all in the next week or so and get everyone caught up on my comings, goings and growings! I really appreciate all of the support that y'all have given my Mommy with surgery and recovery, the warm thoughts & prayers that y'all sent our way were definitely appreciated.

This picture is from the 21st of December, over a month post-op Mommy and I relaxed on the couch after bath time. It's great to have a whole Mommy, although she can catch up with me way faster now so I don't get away with near as much!

Peace, love and a wonderful life,
Bailey
